This post has been on hold forever because our camera’s been on the fritz. Special thanks to TBE reader “Sara(h) Smith,” without whose intercession we would never have been able to finally bring you these no-longer-breaking developments, whose importance remains undiminished.
The Queen Boat, site of Egypt’s most famous gay controversy, has disappeared. The boat, which had long since fallen into a state of disrepair or malign neglect, was last seen by TBE in its moorings on Zamalek’s eastern flank. It remains unclear whether it was taken apart in situ or towed to some sad graveyard for giant boats.
In a last-ditch attempt to save the benighted boat, a ragtag band of architectural preservations and other assorted miscreants commissioned the punk band “The Sex Pistols” to record a song aimed at rallying public support to their cause. TBE has obtained exclusive video. شرسة!
TBE once tried on a sweater at Mr. Hosny. We would’ve bought it, too, but even the small size was too big for our neither hulking nor diminutive frame. The experience was instructive in that it was provided evidence for our general theory of Egyptian menswear, which we’ll expound at some point when we’re hard up for posts.
At this point it’s unclear whether the store will reopen with a snazzy redesign or perhaps just a cosmetic makeover (possibly in 2011) or whether a new tenant will move in.
Downtown developments coming tomorrow!
